Back by public demand (Thanks Torsten).

So it's been a while, and I have occasionally been gently nudged about my inaction on here, so here's a few that I took earlier on this summer. I might even update the temperature pic tomorrow (love that terrapin though).

 

A misty one from last week

A nice bit of gentle backstroke, oblivious to the cold, or so it seems from the safety of the jetty! Knowing what it feels like in there at the moment, I always find it interesting how calm some of us appear from the outside.

Ice again

This was the scene yesterday. It's still icey today, but bizarrely it's gone from the swimming area, despite the water feeling colder than ever!

Reflection

One from yesterday when there was the odd bit of blue sky amongst the clouds. The weather forecast says it's going to be - 4c on Thursday morning! Thinking about a swim is making me anxious and excited in equal measures. Even if my toes don't survive, hopefully it should make for some nice icey pics.

A New Leaf

I've mentioned a few times that I'm going to post more regularly, and not kept to it, so now two weeks into the new year I'm going to make it a resolution to put at least one picture up every time I visit the pond. Let's see how long I can keep it up! Here's one from Monday. There was a bit of snow on the ground which was lovely, but I was a bit disappointed not to see more, I think I was getting nostalgic about last winter.

From last week

The cold and bright days bought the best of out of the pond for my camera. Pics below featuring the legend that is Jean: artist, multi linguist, and tango dancer! The always dapper Oliver, whose only concession to subzero motorcycling is....a scarf. And our resident playwright Ben, using my preferred (and surely the most painless) method of entering the water.

Cold, cold, cold

The board in the changing room has 4c up on it, which is it? We have to know! Or maybe we don't, it's definitely got to the point where it's bloody cold, and only a madman would go all the way round (you know who you are).

Frosty

The first really cold morning arrived last week, but it was beautiful and sunny which always makes the water temperature more bearable!

Reflection

Just a couple of pics from last week. The pond was showing off a beautiful reflection of the clouds, so it was a nice quick shoot for me, no messing around, and straight in for a swim!

Geese bothering

We normally pause to take in the sights of the pond when there's interesting bird action going on, but if they're just sitting there doing nothing?!...and it's time to swim? Then action has to be taken!

More sun!

Since I've missed a few days, here's a bumper crop for you, all taken yesterday. Early swimmers are being blessed with some lovely sunny mornings, long may it last.
